Meet the team: Kat Cary, Section Engineer, Elizabeth Tower

This week, we’ve been celebrating the work of our female engineers in support of International Women in Engineering Day. Here Kat Cary shares more about her role as Section Engineer working on the iconic Elizabeth Tower.

Kat Cary is a Section Engineer for Sir Robert McAlpine Special Projects working on the restoration of the Elizabeth Tower.

Her role involves liaising with sub-contractors and looking after the works packages on site. In this video interview she shares more about her experience in heritage and restoration and her career path.

When asked what advice she would give to those considering a career in conservation she said:

Go for it! If you like a challenge and the balance of working in an office and being practical out onsite, it’s an amazing career choice – there are so many different ways to get involved as everyone comes from a different background. Speak to contractors and those working on historic estates and get as much experience as you can.
