
Immy Masters: What sustainability means to me
03 Jun 2021With World Environment Day approaching on 5th June, Immy took some time out to highlight what this awareness day means to her, as well as sharing her experience working in sustainability.
We’re celebrating the amazing work our female engineers are involved with across our UK projects in support of International Women in Engineering Day this week.
Brought to you by the Women’s Engineering Society, the theme for this year is engineering heroes and we certainly have plenty of those across Sir Robert McAlpine!
We begin with Beth Milton, Graduate Engineer working on a heritage project in London.
In the video below, Beth shares more about her time at Nottingham University studying towards a Civil Engineering degree, what her role as graduate engineer entails including sharing advice to those considering a career in engineering.
When asked what her favourite thing about being an engineer is, Beth said:
Having the technical knowledge to solve real life problems is really rewarding. When you're faced with a challenge in the morning and you have to make decisions and do lots of problem solving to come up with a solution and by the end of the day there's a physical change on site that you've had a direct link to.
