Raising awareness of construction careers

In the start of what is intended to be an ongoing relationship with Oakwood School in Kent, we sponsored a prize for a recent competition which saw GCSE students design a future city in the sea.

In the start of what is intended to be an ongoing relationship with Oakwood School in Kent, we sponsored a prize for a recent competition which saw GCSE students design a future city in the sea.

A total of 140 sixteen-year-olds from six grammar schools in Maidenhead, including Oakwood, took part in the contest, which was held at the Medway campus of the University of Greenwich and led by academics from the Universities of Kent, Greenwich and Canterbury.

The company provided the prize for Best Individual, and Ian Cheung, Regional Manager for the South East, had the difficult task of judging the students’ work.

Our relationship with the school will help raise awareness of construction as a career option and highlight the variety of roles it offers.
