Today marks the start of National Apprenticeship Week. Here we talk to Lauren Scott, Talent Acquisition Apprentice who shares more about her role in HR resourcing, including why she chose an apprenticeship route with us.

Today marks the start of National Apprenticeship Week.

The theme this year is ‘build the future’, and focuses on highlighting the benefits apprenticeships can have on individuals, businesses and local communities.

To get us underway, we meet some of our current trainees who talk about their role at Sir Robert McAlpine and why they chose an apprenticeship route with us.

Introducing Lauren Scott, Talent Acquisition Apprentice

Lauren joined Sir Robert McAlpine last year as a Talent Acquisition Apprentice after deciding she didn't want to go to university and was set on an apprenticeship.

Her role as a Talent Acquisition Apprentice within the Resourcing team involves coordinating the onboarding process for all of the regions. Lauren creates offer letters for new starters, ensures they are approved by the hiring manager and the candidates return them. This is an important process which then informs payroll before the new starter begins employment.

I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship at Sir Robert McAlpine to others. Since I started last March, everyone has been so welcoming and supportive. I have felt at ease since my first day and if I need to ask a question about anything, I feel comfortable to approach anyone in the company.
