Government publishes response to Flexible Working consultation

Sir Robert McAlpine's Chief Executive Officer, Paul Hamer, shares his reaction.

Commenting on the Government's response to its consultation on "Making Flexible Working the Default", published this week, Paul Hamer, Chief Executive Officer of Sir Robert McAlpine, said:

“Sir Robert McAlpine has long been calling for legislation to make flexible working a right from day one of employment. We are therefore delighted that the Government has now announced its intention to do just that, having published its response to the recent flexible working consultation. It is our firm belief that flexible working can bring huge benefits to the UK economy, driving up the productivity of businesses, and also improve employee wellbeing and mental health.

“We were very pleased to contribute to this consultation process, and to be quoted in the Government’s response. We look forward to continuing our work with policy-makers to ensure that flexible working can operate effectively in practice, and keenly await the publication of the Government’s next call for evidence to drive this agenda yet further forward, making true flex a reality in UK workplaces.”
