Listen to the first episode of the Beyond 1% podcast

We are proud to introduce our Beyond 1% podcast which features women with extensive careers in construction discussing the realities of working in this largely male dominated industry.

Women represent only around 14% of the construction workforce, with a mere 1% working on the tools. Our “Beyond 1%” campaign aims to inspire more women into construction careers.

At Sir Robert McAlpine, we are committed to driving inclusion and diversity and inspiring industry wide change.

In this new podcast, women with extensive careers in construction confront the realities of working on a site, address the stereotypes, and comment on the evolution and state of this largely male dominated industry.

In turn, candid, funny, witty, serious, our guests have a wealth of knowledge and ideas to share.

In this first episode, Construction Engineer's Claire Mullen, Paula McMahon and Michelle Hands reminisce about their route into construction, their first day on a site, and what has kept them in construction.

If you have any questions about the wide range of opportunities that a career in construction has to offer, we would love to hear from you. Or alternatively, visit our careers pages.

You can email srmcomms@srm.com and engage with us on social media. We would love to hear your feedback and ideas for future episodes:
