During National Apprenticeship Week, we’re shining a light on our talented apprentices and the work they do.

Check out our social media channels throughout the week as we introduce you to some of our Early Careers Ambassadors, who talk us through their roles and explain why they chose an apprenticeship route into construction with us.

To kick off National Apprenticeship Week, we caught up with our very own Early Careers Advisor, Veronica Coombes. Watch Veronica's interview to learn more about our range of apprenticeships in construction and find out what to expect this National Apprenticeship Week.

My advice for anybody considering doing an apprenticeship in construction is to simply go for it. Apprenticeships are a fantastic opportunity to learn all about construction that's supported in the workplace and academically.

Apprentice Estimator, Alex O'Shea, talks about his role and apprenticeship with us as he develops his #SkillsForLife in construction. Head over to our Instagram page to watch Alex's 'day in the life of' video and learn more about his role.

I am really happy with how my career is progressing at Sir Robert McAlpine. I thoroughly enjoy working in pre-construction as a construction finance estimator and would like to continue working on developing my skills and knowledge in the commercial field. I’m looking forward to my next 3 years of studying which Sir Robert McAlpine is supporting.

I love apprenticeshipsWe will also be shining the spotlight on Design Apprentice, Florian Lawrence, who is based at Station Hill, Reading. Flori's apprenticeship at Sir Robert McAlpine has allowed her to develop #SkillsForLife including communication and teamwork through meetings and tasks, problem solving through workshops, and self-management by prioritising daily tasks, university work, and off-the-job hours. Head over to our Instagram page to watch Florian's 'day in the life of' video and learn more about her role.

As an organisation, Sir Robert McAlpine actively support their employees as well as reach out and take opinions by making affinity groups available. For people in their early careers they have also created/began to create a programme for developing skills and getting extra qualifications.
