Redeveloping & Modernising Airedale Hospital
We’ve been instructed to carry out a variety of works in stages to modernise and re-develop the clinical facilities and services at Airedale Hospital.
Congratulations to our project team at Airedale Barn Theatres, Airedale Hospital for successfully achieving practical completion last month.
The two-story standalone building includes two operating tables within a state of the art ultra-hygienic “barn” style theatre and a procedure suite for minor operations. This extension to the current theatre capacity is to provide much needed new facilities for orthopaedic and ophthalmology procedures.
The project was secured through a PAGABO Framework agreement with the Client Airedale NHS Foundation Trust on the back of successful previous projects, including building the Acute Assessment Unit and a new car park. Close collaboration was undertaken with all stakeholders from concept to completion helping realise the hospital's design concept and desire to deliver an efficient state of the art theatre.
The team’s client focused approach, quality of build and high level of end user satisfaction on Airedale Barn Theatres has resulted in the project achieving all targets, handed over early with zero defects.
I’m extremely proud of the project team who have worked tirelessly with the Trust over the last 24 months to produce this amazing facility during difficult times. The continued strong client relationship coupled with the successful delivery of the Barn Theatres has given us the opportunity to develop potential future works.

“On behalf of the Trust, I’d like to thank the entire Sir Robert McAlpine project team for all their hard work and professionalism. Working during the pandemic, our project needs have changed quickly which they have responded to in the best possible way. Our clinical team has been able to work very closely with the contractors and keep abreast of all progress which has been fantastic. We now have a great area for both our patients and staff.”
