Congratulations to our Sir Robert McAlpine colleagues, who successfully completed the London Marathon on Sunday in support of our charity partner, Maggie's.
Director of Brand, Communications & Proposals, Lynda Thwaite and Section Engineer, Patrick Naughton successfully completed the London Marathon on Sunday 21st April in support of our charity partner, Maggie’s.
The London Marathon stands as one of the most iconic and celebrated long-distance running events globally, attracting elite athletes, amateurs and enthusiasts from around the world.
The marathon course ran through the heart of London, showcasing the city's history and iconic landmarks including the Elizabeth Tower, which has been restored by Sir Robert McAlpine Special Projects. From Greenwich Park to Buckingham Palace, runners took on the challenge of a 26.2-mile journey that encompasses the essence of London's vibrant culture and heritage.
Lynda was joined by her sister Sue, who she enjoyed training with, completing their big runs around the city of Liverpool. Starting with 5km runs and occasional park runs just 13 weeks ago, Lynda's transformation showcases the power of determination and perseverance.
By running for our charity partner, Maggie's, Lynda, Sue and Patrick have not only raised a combined total of almost £9,000 but also showed dedicated support for individuals and families facing the challenges of cancer.
Every donation contributed to the invaluable services and support provided by Maggie's Centres, offering a beacon of hope and comfort in the midst of uncertainty.
Well done Lynda and Patrick!
