Gold Award recognises commitment to Armed Forces community

We have been awarded the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award, the highest level available to organisations that demonstrate exceptional support for the Armed Forces community.

The award reflects our long-standing commitment to supporting veterans, reservists, military spouses and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, helping them build successful and rewarding careers while creating an environment where they can thrive.

We have colleagues from the Armed Forces community working across the company and have a strong Armed Forces Network, providing mentoring, peer support and opportunities for ex-service personnel to connect with others who share similar backgrounds. When they join us, new employees are offered support as they transition into civilian careers and become part of the wider Sir Robert McAlpine community.

Beyond our own workforce, we actively advocate for the Armed Forces community across the construction industry. Working with organisations such as the Forces Employment Charity and BuildForce, we help raise awareness of the opportunities available to service leavers and encourage wider support for veterans, reservists and military families.

We have also updated our supply chain tender documents and contractual obligations to highlight the Armed Forces Covenant and continue to promote advocacy for the Covenant across our suppliers and subcontractors.

Our commitment also extends to supporting future generations. Over the past year we have collaborated with cadet organisations, schools and military-focused charities, providing careers support, employability advice, work experience opportunities and community funding initiatives.
