Celebrating 10 years of the Broadgate Framework

Last week, as an official Partner of the London Real Estate Forum (LREF), we hosted a panel discussion bringing together leading voices from across our industry to reflect on a relationship that has helped shape a decade of development at Broadgate.

Held at Guildhall on 16th September, LREF gathered leaders from across the built environment, public sector, investment and business communities. This year’s theme, Connectivity, explored how stronger connections between people, places and sectors can help London respond to challenges including climate change, AI and geopolitical change.

As an official LREF Partner for 2026, we hosted our own panel, ‘Built on Partnership: 10 Years of Broadgate’, looking at what we have learned from a decade of working collaboratively through the Broadgate Framework.

The discussion featured Charles Horne, Project Director at British Land; Kate Bunting, Director, Project Management at Ramboll; Katie Stewart, Executive Director for Environment at the City of London Corporation, and was chaired by our Work Winning Director, Will Lunn.

The session explored the ingredients that make long-term partnerships successful, including a genuine one-team approach, collaboration and innovation, as well as how digital construction and continuous learning can help improve projects over time. Importantly, it was also an opportunity to discuss the lessons learnt along the way and what the wider industry can take from the Broadgate experience.

This year marked ten years of the Broadgate Framework, through which we have delivered six landmark projects for British Land as sole contractor, including 135 Bishopsgate, 3 Broadgate, 1 Finsbury Avenue, 100 Liverpool Street, 1 Broadgate and, currently, 2 Finsbury Avenue.

More than the individual projects, what makes the Framework significant is the integrated way of working it has created over the past decade. Strong leadership across every element of the programme has been central to building a distinctive culture, underpinned by the “Trust, Honesty, Collaboration” motto. This highly collaborative environment has driven the success of the Framework, enabling lessons and innovations to be carried from one scheme to the next.

That approach can be seen particularly clearly at 2 Finsbury Avenue. The project has benefited from the continuity established across previous Broadgate schemes, with experienced partners engaged early and teams working in a highly integrated environment. That maturity has supported complex engineering, buildability, sustainability and delivery decision-making.

It is also reflected in 1 Broadgate, the fifth project delivered under the framework, which we completed last year.

Our presence at LREF was therefore about more than showcasing a successful framework. It provided an opportunity to share, alongside our client and industry partners, what long-term collaboration looks like in practice and the value it can create.

The Broadgate story is ultimately a story about people, relationships and what becomes possible when teams work together over the long term. Ten years on, that remains one of the most important lessons of the Framework.
