App keeps people updated on works

An innovative new community engagement app is providing up-to-date information on the construction works taking place on our 100 Liverpool Street project at Broadgate in London.

An innovative new community engagement app is providing up-to-date information on the construction works taking place on our 100 Liverpool Street project at Broadgate in London.

Developed in partnership with British Land, the app is a multiplatform mobile application designed to allow all interested parties - including tenants, retail and leisure operators in the area, and the general public – to view, explore and comment on the construction works.

We were appointed principal contractor for the re-development of 100 Liverpool Street in 2016. In light of the ongoing nature of the work taking place, we and British Land recognised the need to develop additional channels for engaging with stakeholders and the local community who may be affected by construction. The app is an extension of the ongoing communications and engagement activity around the construction.

Users can explore a 3D map, as well as an interactive 3D model of 100 Liverpool Street, an animated construction sequence and more detailed information such as a project overview, progress updates and images.

Users receive instant notifications of any works which may affect them and can use the app to communicate directly with our team if they have any comments or questions. The app also carries news of employment and training opportunities available during construction as well as community events associated with the project.

Charles Horne, Project Director at British Land, said:

"The app represents a collaboration for the future between Sir Robert McAlpine and British Land that will improve our development process and reduce disruption on our campus.  Innovation is a big part of the framework and the use of technology like this app will help us to improve communications to ensure engagement and advocacy from our tenants and other stakeholders. Thanks to this app, we'll be able to do that for 100 Liverpool Street as well as any further projects that start as part of the redevelopment of the Broadgate Campus."

Paul Heather, Managing Director for London, said:

"It is vital that we offer stakeholders every opportunity to understand what's happening in the area and to engage with us during construction works at 100 Liverpool Street.  We are delighted that we have been able to use new technology to build on our extensive community engagement work and believe that this app demonstrates our commitment to keeping stakeholders informed and will build genuine excitement around the project."
