Strong Foundations Grant awarded in Hemel Hempstead

Congratulations to our Strong Foundations Grant recipients in Hemel Hempstead

As our 2022 Strong Foundation Grants continue, we are pleased to share the winners of grants from Hemel Hempstead.

Congratulations to the following organisations who were awarded a share of the £13,550 fund in Hemel Hampstead:

  • St Albans City Youth Football Club runs projects to support disabled young people to participate in football. The funds will go towards a programme to deliver a SEN Football Skills Day for up to 100 students, in partnership with Oaklands College.

  • Hertford Company of Archers is a friendly club catering for all ages and abilities from age eight and above. They support several archers who are wheelchair bound, including two Paralympic athletes. The funding will go towards improving accessibility and installing a solar powered automated gate, so wheelchair users can easily access their facilities without additional assistance. This will also increase security for all users.

  • Youthscape has been serving young people since 1993, offering programmes in local secondary schools in Luton, to help young people understand and better manage their stress, anxiety and struggles in school. The funding will provide a drop in ‘follow-up’ for young people (approx. 30 per session). The funds will cover staffing, activities and dinner.

  • Harrow Heritage Trust launched in 1985 to encourage today’s artists and architects of both landscape and building to create the heritage of the future, and protect the heritage of the past. The funding will support work restoring an ecology park, which has seen biodiversity increases. It will specifically target a meadow that requires additional efforts to ensure it thrives and creates a healthy biodiversity.

  • Nikki’s Wishes offers bereavement support for children and their families. It provides free and fun days out for bereaved children, their families and carers. The funds will go towards hosting 50 people at these fun days, allowing children and families to connect with others who are experiencing bereavement.

  • Sebby's Corner believes no child should go without basic essentials. They supply items such as clothing, nappies, formula and baby equipment to local families living in poverty. Every month, they distribute over 5,000 nappies, 1,200 items of clothes, over 100 boxes of formula & much more. The funding will ensure they never run out of items like nappies & toothbrushes, plus cover ongoing costs to provide this service. With a significant increase in referrals in recent weeks due to the cost-of-living crisis, this funding will help to ensure that they don't have to turn families away.
