Work on 1 Broadgate has been nominated for Digital Construction Project of the Year
The nomination recognises our use of digital tools at 1 Broadgate, where our 10-year partnership with British Land has delivered one of London’s most sustainable and desirable commercial office buildings.
By employing a digital-first strategy we achieved some major sustainability outcomes, including a BREEAM innovation credit & 27% reuse of demolished materials, and a replicable digital delivery methodology, establishing 1 Broadgate as a benchmark and future blueprint for digital construction delivery.
It was also identified as a case study in the 2025 Construction Productivity Report, highlighting examples from data collected during cladding installation and in-situ frame.
A selection of existing and new technology tools was utilised across the duration of the project. These included Synchro Pro for delivering 4D, optimising programme and logistics methodology with BIM; Disperse to track progress on site combining 360 degree imagery with programme information; Madaster to enable cloud-based material passporting, supporting circular economy goals providing a live ‘material bank’ for the building; and trialling of XYZ AR Headsets for on-site setting out validation, allowing physical works to be compared to 3D models in real time.
Overall, we achieved notable improvements in productivity, efficiency, and stakeholder collaboration. The project has achieved BREEAM Outstanding, and is targeting WELL Platinum & NABERS 5-star, as well as circular economy integration.
Nick Leach, Digital Construction Director, Sir Robert McAlpine, said: “This nomination is a fantastic recognition of how our digital first approach at 1 Broadgate has transformed the way we deliver complex projects. By integrating the right technologies with a highly collaborative team, we’ve created a repeatable model that drives productivity, reduces waste and supports clients in meeting their sustainability ambitions. It’s proof that when digital delivery is embedded from day one, it becomes a catalyst for better outcomes across the entire project lifecycle.”
The winners will be announced at London Marriott Hotel on Wednesday 18th March.
