Congratulations to Anjana Raj, our Regional Community Manager for Scotland and the Northern region, who was crowned “Most Inspiring Mentor” at the Inspire Awards, held in Manchester, on Wednesday 5th June.
As a Regional Community Manager based in Newcastle, Anjana works closely with our project teams, supply chain partners and local communities in the Scotland and Northern region to address the recruitment needs of every project and engage the public.
As a mentor, she works relentlessly in collaboration with local authorities, partners and organisations to deliver schemes that drive local employment, facilitate training and apprenticeship opportunities.
What really stands her apart is her passion to change lives and her dedication to promote inclusion and diversity in the construction industry.
Her proactive engagement has really contributed to inspiring young women to consider a career in the industry. With women seriously underrepresented in STEM jobs, Anjana is a great role model embracing equality, promoting diversity and demonstrating that the construction industry offers opportunities to everyone.
Reacting to her Award win, Anjana said: “It is a great feeling to be recognised by the industry for something that I am passionate about. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than to engage with young people and make a difference in their lives by inspiring them to a career in construction.”
Phil Langton, Regional Chief Engineer, said: “Congratulations to Anjana on a much deserved accolade. Anjana has been a truly inspiring mentor to dozens of young people in the region. She is a great role model and embodies perfectly the values of our people at Sir Robert McAlpine make a positive social impact.”
