Heroes of the highways honoured

Members of our M6 and A19 teams were recognised for their acts of bravery and selflessness at the recent Highways Heroes Awards

No fewer than nine of our colleagues have been recognised for their everyday heroics at a transport industry awards ceremony.

They were handed Personal Impact Awards at the Highways Heroes Awards, held at the London Hilton Park Lane.

Our nominees came from two projects: the M6 ROM and the A19 DBFO team, which are led by Sir Robert McAlpine Capital Ventures.

The award celebrates acts of bravery and selflessness from those working on the highways which have made a difference to other team members or the general public.

Nominees were put forward for a range of reasons, including intervening to help someone who was showing signs of contemplating suicide, and providing medical assistance to a colleague with a suspected heart attack.

Our winners were:

  • M6 ROM: Grant Gilliland, Cameron Irvine and Kevin Byers (all pictured, above right)
  • A19 DBFO: Lee Collings, Ros Pluck, Alan Cooper Snr, Ronnie Goundry, Mick Citro and Sean McAndrew
