Introduction of integrated information hubs impresses judges at Building Innovation Awards 2026
The team were named winners of the Best Use of Data on a Construction Project award for their pioneering work at 2 Finsbury Avenue.
The award celebrates organisations using data to transform project delivery, recognising innovation, measurable impact and the ability to create scalable solutions that can benefit the wider construction industry.
Our entry showcased how our digital construction team developed two integrated information hubs by bringing data from design, construction, commissioning and asset management into a single trusted source.
Supporting large amounts of project records, the solution has created greater visibility, improved decision-making and reduced the need for manual reporting. The team also created role-specific dashboards that give project colleagues real-time insight into progress, risks and performance.
This has delivered an estimated saving of up to three days of manual administration per week – freeing our project team up to focus on delivery.
Importantly, the processes developed are already providing a blueprint that can be applied across our portfolio of projects and the wider industry.
Nick Leach, Director of Digital Construction at Sir Robert McAlpine, said: "This recognition reflects the power of putting high-quality data at the heart of project delivery, enabling better decision-making, improved collaboration, and greater visibility across the project lifecycle.
"It's a great endorsement to our digital construction team, project teams, partners and client, British Land, for embracing innovation and helping turn data into measurable project value."
There was further success on the night for Integrated Health Projects (IHP), the healthcare joint venture between VINCI Building and Sir Robert McAlpine.
The team were awarded Most Sustainable Building Project for their work at the Countess of Chester Hospital, which became the first completed healthcare facility in England to be compliant with the NHS Net Zero Building Standard upon completion last year.
