Gearing up for Tour de SE cycle ride for Maggie’s
18 Aug 2021Colleagues across the business are preparing for their 'Tour de SE' charity ride which will see them cycle 290 miles whilst fundraising for Maggie’s.
Congratulations to the project team at Embankment West for achieving sectional completion on all three buildings at our project in Salford.
Laurence Place is a 16-storey residential building, comprising 209 apartments. Exchange Point is an 18-storey residential building consisting of 147 apartments. City Suites 2 is a 17-storey residential building, with 142 apartments. The top three floors of City Suites 2 are residential ‘super suites’, currently being fitted out by the client. Our Kettering team supplied three Sir Robert McAlpine tower cranes to complete these works. Whilst all three buildings have been handed over, there are some final external works taking place, expected to be completed at the end of September 2021.
In both Laurence Place and City Suites 2 the buildings feature an amenity space at ground floor level, including associated lounge areas for communal gatherings of tenants and the public with the view to providing refreshments and catering facilities in a relaxed atmosphere.
The landscaping incorporated the Victorian rail arches into the finalised landscape scheme for the development, tying it into the modern design for the buildings and the recently modernised Salford streets. There are 156 balconies across 356 apartments located on the Exchange Point and Laurence Place.
The buildings themselves consist of a reinforced concrete frame with a masonry façade to two of the buildings. This involved the laying of close to 600,000 bricks and a mixture of aluminium composite sheet material & ceramic tiles to the third building, all of which had a hot melt roof system installed.
The buildings' façade works were undertaken from mast climbers, methodically managed within tight work confines. Much of the construction was completed with facades within close proximity to “live” Network Rail assets, providing an additional challenge to the team on a site located on an already tight city footprint.
Congratulations to the team for managing such a complex project and achieving Sectional Completion.
