Celebrating success at the BCO Awards 2024

Congratulations to our project teams who have been recognised at the BCO Awards 2024.

Celebrating success as our project teams win at the Regional BCO Awards 2024.

The British Council for Offices (BCO) held its annual Regional Awards, recognising projects that demonstrate best practice in office design, fit-out, operation and sustainability.

Congratulations to our Sir Robert McAlpine project teams, who have been recognised at this year's Regional BCO Awards:

  • Edinburgh Park - named 'Best Commercial Workplace'
  • One Centenary Way - named ‘Best Commercial Workplace’
  • The Forge - received the 'Innovation Award'

Edinburgh Park named 'Best Commercial Workplace' at at the Scotland BCO Awards

The scheme at 1 New Park Square, Edinburgh, comprised the design and construction of a five-storey commercial building, providing 85,000ft2 of Grade A office space. It includes a multi-storey car park with capacity for 400 parking spaces within the Edinburgh Park Southern Phase development.

Commenting that this is an exceptional building using high quality finishes and attention to detail throughout, the judges recognised its blend of natural materials and exposed concrete. The needs of tenants have been well understood with the provision of excellent health and wellbeing facilities as well as public restaurants, which have become an attraction in their own right. The panel commented that 1 New Park Square marks the start of the next exciting phase of development in Edinburgh Park.

And the team are no stranger to industry accolades. In the past year, Edinburgh Park has won ‘Best Workplace over £20m’ at the AJ Architecture Awards and Outright Winner Award’ at the Concrete Society Awards.

Well done to all involved!

The Forge recognised for innovation at BCO London Awards 2024

The Forge is the UK’s first commercial development to have been designed in line with the UK Green Building Council’s definition of a net zero building. It’s also the first office to be built using the highly sustainable platform approach to design for manufacture and assembly (P-DfMA).

The project received funding from Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, for its innovative design and ground-breaking construction techniques, which contributed to a circa. 36% reduction to date in embodied carbon from the initial design stage.
