Event at 2 Finsbury Avenue shines a spotlight on the Broadgate Future Talent programme
We joined forces with charity partner, the Construction Youth Trust (CYT), and client, British Land, to welcome some of the CYT’s supporters and donors, and explore how we can continue working together to create life-changing opportunities for young people.
The Broadgate Framework has proven to be an exemplar of this approach through the Broadgate Future Talent programme. By bringing together funding, employers and long-term support, the programme has reached hundreds of young people and helped create 15 apprenticeships for those from the site’s neighbouring communities.
Among those attending were our own Victoria Inglis, Fahima Islam and Abigail Wilkinson, who each benefitted from the CYT’s programmes to find their route into the industry.
Abigail joined colleagues from other leading industry organisations in a panel discussion moderated by our Senior Social Value Manager, Sam Lee. They shared first-hand experiences of the support received from the CYT, and the critical role the charity plays in providing young people with the tools they need to succeed in the industry.
Our Chair, Ed McAlpine, was among the industry leaders who also shared their perspective on the importance of investing in diverse talent and creating pathways for local young people into sustainable careers across the built environment.
The event showcased what can be achieved through long-term collaboration, from the opportunities created through the Broadgate Future Talent programme to our wider partnership with CYT, helping more young people into construction.
