The landmark corporate headquarters of Deutsche Bank moves forward to the British Council for Offices (BCO) National Awards later in the year
Built as the new headquarters for Deutsche Bank, the 17-storey, 560,000 sq ft building is a complex feat of engineering.
The judges praised the project as 'a market‑leading example of user-focused design delivered under extraordinary constraints'.
Constructed over a working Tube station and multiple underground lines, the building's steel frame sits on top of a complicated series of piles and six, seven metre deep steel launching trusses spanning up to 55m - the distance equivalent to the wingspan of a jumbo jet.
The project’s sustainability credentials include a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating, representing pioneering best practice and exemplary sustainability performance.
It will go up against winners from the other regional BCO awards for a national award later in the year.
