Sir Robert McAlpine Special Projects are proud to be sponsoring the Restoration or Conservation Project of the Year category at the prestigious Museums + Heritage Awards 2026.

We’re sponsoring the Restoration or Conservation Project of the Year award in partnership with the Institute of Conservation.

This award aims to highlight the quality of work undertaken on restoration, repair and conservation projects within the UK – aligning with our Special Projects team’s expertise in complex heritage restoration.

This includes the multi award-winning restoration of the iconic Elizabeth Tower, and recent remodelling and refurbishment of the National Gallery’s Sainsbury Wing.

The projects nominated for this year’s award are:

  • Durham University: Conserving the Durham Shakespeare First Folio

  • Cannington Shaw Preservation Trust CIC: No7 Bottle Shop

  • Norfolk Museums Service Norwich Castle: A Royal Palace Reborn

  • Dover District Council, The Landmark Trust, Haverstock, Ingham Pinnock Associates & Pitsilli Graham: Reawakening the Maison Dieu

  • Buttress Architects & Preston City Council Harris Your Place: The Harris Museum, Art Gallery & Library

The winner will be revealed at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 13th May.
