As the London marathon approaches, we wish our colleagues the very best of luck as they take on the challenge of running the distance to make a meaningful impact for Maggie's.
The London Marathon stands as one of the most iconic and celebrated long-distance running events globally, drawing elite athletes, amateurs, and enthusiasts from around the world.
The marathon course winds through the heart of London, showcasing the city's rich history and iconic landmarks. Starting in Greenwich Park, runners embark on a 26.2-mile journey that leads them past some of London's most famous sites, including the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, the London Eye, and Buckingham Palace, before finishing in front of Buckingham Palace on The Mall.
Lynda will also be joined by her sister Sue, who have enjoyed training together, completing their big runs around the city of Liverpool. She started out running 5km, doing the occasional park run just 9 weeks ago, so has had quite the journey!
By running for our charity partner, Maggie's, they will not only raise vital funds but also show support for individuals and families facing the challenges of cancer.
Every donation will contribute to the invaluable services and support provided by Maggie's Centres, offering a beacon of hope and comfort in the midst of uncertainty.
My sister and I know first hand that no family is left unaffected by the shock and cruelty of a cancer diagnosis. We’re slightly nervous about the run, we’re really pushing ourselves with the distance, but it’s totally worth it and we feel honoured to help raise funds for Maggie’s. The kindness and support they offer is incredibly important.
