Our delivery of Sustainable Engineering Excellence has proven pivotal to nominations across three categories at this year's Building Awards.

3 Chamberlain Square is cited in the Net Zero Award category, with 1 Broadgate vying for Project of the Year and Delivering Social Value.

3 Chamberlain Square, completed last year for MEPC as part of Birmingham's Paradise development, delivered industry-leading sustainability outcomes through early collaboration and innovative design. The £75m, all-electric office building is the first in the West Midlands to achieve both BREEAM Outstanding and a NABERS 5-Star rating, while outperforming its embodied carbon target.

Along with partners on the project, we delivered ambitious sustainability goals by reducing concrete use by up to 25%, cutting steel reinforcement by up to 50%, lowering site emissions by 77%, and incorporating low-carbon and recycled materials throughout.

1Broadgate's nomination in the Awards’ headline category, Project of the Year, reflects its status as one of London’s most ambitious office developments, which we delivered for British Land, as part of the Broadgate Framework. Completed on time and on budget, it has added 56,500m² of premium workspace, retail and leisure space to the Broadgate campus.

It also has significant sustainability credentials, achieving BREEAM Outstanding, and targeting WELL Platinum & a 5-star NABERS rating, and received Considerate Constructors Scheme innovation points for its pioneering Materials Passport, which contributed to 99.94% waste diversion from landfill.

The project's further nomination for Delivering Social Value showcases how our innovative partnerships created sustained, high-impact programmes.

By promoting skills, employment and long-term career pathways for under-represented groups, 1,796 apprenticeship weeks and 104 work experience weeks were delivered, with 44 apprentices supported through the Broadgate programme among a total social impact of £409 million.

The winners will be revealed at Grosvenor House Hotel on Tuesday 3rd November.
