Our experience ranges from the design and construction of the UK’s original fleet of nuclear power stations, through a continued presence at Sellafield between 1984 and 2017 to the provision of civil design services for new European Pressurised Reactors at Flamanville in France and Taishan in China.
We have provided full CSA design services to the award winning Dry Fuel Storage Building at Sizewell and the civil/structural design for new Nitrogen Plants at Hunterston B, Hinkley Point B and Dungeness B. Complex and non-linear finite element studies are regularly undertaken in support of nuclear plant safety for the prestressed concrete pressure vessels.
Recent projects include full CSA and M&E designs for three new buildings at Sizewell B as enabling works for Sizewell C, site selections/ground investigation studies in support of decommissioning activities at Hunterston B, Hinkley B, Heysham A and Hartlepool, and complex FE modelling and structural assessment studies at Sizewell B and Heysham A.
As well as understanding the vital importance of ensuring the precise implementation of designs and the need for complete adherence to specification, we also recognise that meeting the stringent quality controls and exacting safety standards integral to these projects is paramount.
With a continuous presence of 33 years at Sellafield from 1984 to 2017, we are proud to have been responsible for a vast number of the building and civil engineering aspects of the Cumbria plant’s fuel reprocessing and waste management facilities.
Contracts included the THORP Receipt and Storage Ponds, the Medium Active Solid Waste Encapsulation Plants EP1 and EP2, the Mixed Oxide Fuel Plant, the Drypac Plant, the Combined Heat and Power Plant and refurbishment of the Sealine Pipe Bridge.
