Wimbledon No. 1 Court video: Patrick Williams

Patrick Williams of The All England Lawn Tennis Club explains how the project is ‘too big and too complicated’ to take place without close collaboration.

2016 was a momentous year for tennis fans – Andy Murray won his final Wimbledon, and it also saw the start of Sir Robert McAlpine’s work on the retractable roof on No.1 Court.

Enabling play to continue no matter the weather, the new roof is vital for players, organisers and tennis fans alike.

Patrick Williams of The All England Lawn Tennis Club explains how the project is ‘too big and too complicated’ to take place without close collaboration across teams, and notes the stunning project is testament to the hard work of a team prepared to ‘bend over backwards’.
