Tony Gates explores the future of nuclear infrastructure

In his latest article for New Civil Engineer, Tony Gates, Executive Managing Director at Sir Robert McAlpine writes about how long term vision and collaboration will be critical to the future of nuclear infrastructure.


There is much still to be done on our journey to improve infrastructure, and similarly to achieve the government’s commitment of nuclear power providing a quarter of the UK’s electricity by 2050. Today is as good a day as any for us all to take that first step.

Long term vision and collaboration will be critical to the future of nuclear infrastructure

Marking a key moment in the government’s long-term ambition for nuclear power, secretary of state for energy security Grant Shapps claimed that we were seeing “the first brush strokes of our nuclear power renaissance to power up Britain”.

Tony continued to say, "There is much still to be done on our journey to improve infrastructure, and similarly to achieve the government’s commitment of nuclear power providing a quarter of the UK’s electricity by 2050. Today is as good a day as any for us all to take that first step."
