The redeveloped 54-bed facility will improve mental health facilities for service users in the North East
Delivered through the Pagabo framework, Bamburgh is the final scheme in Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust’s (CNTW) multi-year CEDAR programme to improve mental health facilities, with previous projects at Northgate and Ferndene also delivered by SRM.
The Bamburgh Clinic is a £7.5 million project which involved extensive refurbishment to create a 54-bed facility.
The unit formally completed in early July and welcomed its first patients in August, replacing outdated facilities and offering a vastly improved experience for service users.
Mark Gardham, Healthcare Sector Director at Sir Robert McAlpine, said: “The completion of the Bamburgh Unit is a proud moment for our team and a fitting conclusion to the CEDAR programme, which has delivered a truly transformative environment for service users and staff.”
Russell Patton, Deputy Chief Operating Officer at CNTW, said: “We’re extremely proud of the work that has gone into redeveloping and moving patients into Bamburgh Clinic.
“By redeveloping the site, we’re ensuring the Trust continues to be a provider of high-quality care for those who need it most. It’s a long-term investment and will ensure we can continue to provide care in the heart of the North East for years to come.”
As the final chapter in the CEDAR programme, the Bamburgh Clinic reflects Sir Robert McAlpine’s commitment to delivering healthcare infrastructure that supports recovery, dignity and long-term wellbeing.
