Digital construction at Museum of London

Our project team spoke to Construction Management about the digital strategy and tools used to transform the Smithfield market into the London Museum.

Project Director, Richard Hill, and Senior Digital Construction Manager, Irina Gales, speak to Construction Management about the works that is currently taking place to transform the Smithfield market into a smart building, set to open in 2026 as the London Museum. They focus particularly on the digital tools and strategy that the team has adopted.

The approach is also helping to create the most sustainable museum possible, embracing the circular economy through the principles of reduce, re-use and recycle and targeting a BREEAM Outstanding rating. The team is seeking to retain and recycle 70% of the existing building fabric and reduce operational carbon through smart technologies that will monitor and improve performance over time. As we approach the completion of the Museum of London's digital construction, our innovative strategies and smart building technologies promise a sustainable and state-of-the-art museum experience.
