Design in Mental Health Conference 2023

Emma Shakespeare, Senior Design Manager, will be taking part in a panel session at this year's Design in Mental Health Conference.

This year's Design in Mental Health Conference aims to cover a wide range of topics within the design, build, management and maintenance of facilities for mental health. 

The Conference themes include: 

  • the approach, design and technology used in the physical environment;
  • policy and partnership use in delivery of treatment and facilities;
  • service user experience, new ways of working, and demonstration of the person-centred approach.

Emma Shakespeare, Senior Design Manager at Sir Robert McAlpine, will be amongst the speakers, taking part in a panel discussion on "Informed Choices - Transparency between the built environment and clinical risk management". This session will take place on Wednesday 7th June in the Workshop room.

    Emma has been working in the Healthcare Sector on Mental Health Facilities for 4 years. She is passionate about working with the project team to deliver sympathetic yet robust and workable solutions in these challenging environments for all stakeholders. Emma delves into the detail ensuring that solutions are chosen with the users in mind. “These facilities  offer respite and care for people who are Mums and Dads, Sons and Daughters, etc – I feel responsibility in making that the best it can be for their journey to recovery”
