James Campbell - Apprentice Engineer

James is undertaking an engineering apprenticeship with us after joining the company as an assistant engineer. His role allows him to work on live projects whilst taking one day out a week to study at college. Here he tells us more of his typical working day.

James joined the business nearly six years ago where he firstly joined as an assistant engineer. He enjoyed this introduction to engineering which enabled his decision to further his career with an apprenticeship. 

He is now a setting out engineer which involves setting out coordinates, giving levels for concrete and brickwork structures. His role also entails package management, management of sub contractors, enforcing health and safety, reviewing program and progress.
